epilogue : the appendices i am intrigued by the idea which emerges from working with interactive cdroms that different material can become available at different levels depending on the level of your engagement unlike the book where each page is equally available at all times
this allows for the process of unfoldment or discovery
the idea of an appendix is that it is a "bit hanging off" and whilst not essential to an appreciation or understanding of the whole they can reveal different aspects of the whole which are at least as interesting and/or important
there are two sets of appendices
the formal exegesis appendices containing explanations and notes to go with the chapters - and the appendices to the catalogue which are uncatalogued (eg the journal): they become accessible through hyperlinks in various items of the catalogue where appropriate - these appendices fulfill a special role and they do so in a special way : it is not that they are hidden - they are accessible but the pathways to them are obscure
the first appendix to the catalogue is accessible from two of the catalogue items which each contain one hyperlink to it - i am not presently considering introducing any more - so far only one person has found it as far as i am aware and interestingly she lost the path by which she found it and couldn't find it again
_______
well that's it folks
