Abstract
It is a common misconception that the primary role of artists is to produce artworks. I propose that the role of the artist today is to think. If that process results in art work/s, then so be it, but it could equally result in an act of destruction, an utterance heard by no one, a painting of a white cross on a white background, or nothing at all. At a time when production and the product is valued above all things, the only act of resistance left to those of us who wish to resist is refusal - refusal to produce.
