i made this work about the dutch un peacekeepers' failure to protect the citizens of srebrenica by overlaying two looped pieces of digital video of slightly differing lengths and programming the computer to assign a random transparency value between 0 and 100 to each at the iteration of each loop.

one video layer shows the dutch soldiers celebrating at a party to mark the end of the campaign - the other video layer shows what is happening in just outside of srebenica at approximately the same time : eight thousand men and boys being led into the woods by soldiers of the army of republika srpska under the command of general ratko mladić.

the work was exhibited as part of conduit at the wagga wagga art gallery in 2005.
