once, many years ago, i did a phd.
the idea was that the exegesis would be digital and would be generated progressively, online.
at that time that was a somewhat novel idea.
and oh! what a mess i made.
eventually i somehow managed to pull enough out of the fire to convince my examiners, but i left a trail of digital debris in my wake.
here is snapshot of the nightmare which was the exegesis at about the halfway mark, in 2000.
there was a long, long way to go.
