Every photo-based image tells a story or we think it tells one. We are compelled to look for narrative sense - meaning. We have a compunction to connect the thing photographed - the real world - to its image. A process Roland Barthes terms the "evidential force" of a Photograph.

But what happens when this evidential force is fractured, blurred, obliterated? What happens when the connection to the real is at best tenuous, ambiguous? How then is meaning, narrative constructed?

I am interested in the way meaning is transferred and transformed by photographic processes. In this work I have transferred small image fragments, gathered from the Internet, onto canvas. Transferred from one photo-medium to another.

These fragments of photographic information/imagery are scattered over the gallery wall with an astheticised randomness. The images have links but are not linked in any obvious narrative intent. They allude to other images, other narratives, domesticity, bushland crime scene, dark spaces, emptiness.
